July 17, 2009

An analysis of the New York City School Progress Report, released in June, comparing 2006-07 school scores to scores achieved in 2007-08 showed correlations in school performance improvements with program participation in just one year’s time.

School Leaders Network has 5 networks and 135 principals who have participated in SLN programming. SLN analyzed the results for the group of 28 SLN principals who had been in the program since 2006, attended 80% or more SLN sessions and stayed in the same school during the evaluation period. In New York City, where, analysis of the data set yielded three key findings:

  1. Student performance increased in K-8 English Language Arts compared to peer horizon schools
  2. Math scores in K-8 increased compared to peer horizon schools
  3. School environment ratings for all SLN-led schools increased significantly
